Wat een race en wat een weer hebben ze dit jaar. Deze bikkels hebben een hoop wind te verduren.

Dag 1:

 

It was a tough race today with strong wind conditions: south west 5 bft. Leaders in the first stage of the race were Bart de Zwart, Ryan James and Paul Jackson. For the women Anne-Marie Reichman, and Jackson were leading. Finally Bart de Zwart reached the finish first after 5,5 hours, closely followed by Erik Devaux, and third Paul Jackson. For the women it was Anne-Marie who finished first after a race of 6,5 hours, secondly Jackson and third Horsefield. The first of the teams was team Hightide. Several participants had to end the race before the finish in Sneek, because of the heavy weather conditions. Despite the rain, the sun appeared so now and then between the clouds, a good way to warm up the atmosphere

Dag 2:

 This morning day 2 of the Tour was started by the mayor of Sloten, who woke up early to give the start signal for the race! 
Forty athletes paddle to Workum today, with again heavy weather conditions. Parts of the race will be over open water, which is tough with the head on winds blowing 5 to 6 bft. The first resting point is in Stavoren, where the first athletes already arrived after 3 hours and 15 minutes paddling.  We keep you up to date via twitter and facebook who is leading,

Bart is going strong! Topgozer! Ook team Hightide zijn true sportsmen. Super jongens. Ik vind het van grote klasse en heb respect voor iedereen die de afgelopen dagen, in deze omstandigheden, deze etappes volbrengen. Echt heftig lijkt me. Ik heb veel zin om zaterdag en zondag me aan te sluiten bij deze atleten.

Super om weer onderdeel te zijn van deze wedstrijd waar veel echte wateratleten, sportieve mensen, samen deze extreme vorm van SUP racing beoefenen. Guys see ya on saterday, keep up the good spirit. 

Ik zal voor team JP Australia het weekeinde paddelen. Ook surfcenter zal zondag aan de start verschijnen. We gaan er een mooie happening van maken.
